Only a handful of prospects have been plucked from the International pool thus far in Season 13, but that doesn't mean we haven't seen any big splashes. Don Suzuki was signed to a $16.5 Million deal by the Atlanta Ejected Managers. The 21 year old shortstop was promptly assigned to AAA where in 64 ABs he's hit a mere .219 with 1 home run, 6 RBIs, & an OBP of .275.
Despite his slow start, AAA hitting coach Livan Pimentel isn't worried. "A slow start isn't unusual for a ML veteran, never mind a 21 year old kid [whose] only been in this country a few weeks." said Pimentel. "He's still getting settled in and right now that's the most important thing. We know he's talented and we know he'll contribute. He just needs to trust his skills and keep working and the numbers will take care of themselves."
Keep an eye on Suzuki as he tries to make his adjustments to the U.S. If his numbers turn around, a September call up to the Big Leagues may not be out of the question. Nevertheless, given his apparent timetable, Suzuki looks to be on the fast track to the majors & should make an appearance sometime in Season 14.
